Thursday 4/15 the Lady Bucs Girls Track and Field Team competed at the District 23/24-6A Area Track Meet in Pearland. This meet displayed the top athletes of both districts and was loaded with talent. The Lady Bucs finished 9th overall out of 14 teams. All athletes competing for a spot to move on to the UIL Regional Track Meet. Senior Joslyn Garza competed in the discus for the Lady Bucs. With a throw of 107'02", Garza placed 7th for the Lady Bucs. Garza closes out a great throwing career and we applaud her for her contributions to our program. Freshman Brooklyn Baker had quite the busy day, competing in three events in the Area Meet. Baker started the day off strong placing 3rd in the Girl's Triple Jump, setting a new PR (Personal Record) with a jump of 36'. Baker would follow up that performance with a 5th place long jump of 16'5.5". To finish her day off Brooklyn placed 7th in the 100m dash with a time of 13.05. Baker wasn't the only freshman to score points for the Lady Bucs. Freshman long distance runner Maya Funk competed in the 3200m run and 1600m run. Funk set new PR's in both of her events. Maya finished 2nd place in the 3200m with a time of 11:42. She would finish off the night placing 5th in the 1600m running a time of 5:22.18.

Brooklyn and Maya punched their ticket to the UIL Region 3 Track Meet in Humble, TX next Friday and Saturday.
Baker will compete in the triple jump and Funk in the 3200m run. The Lady Buc Track and Field program and Brazoswood High School are extremely proud of these two young athletes.
